Double Dare taking jabs at Fun House
« on: June 26, 2005, 07:21:17 PM »
Caught an episode a few weeks ago where during a physical challenge players had to knock over a tombstone. One of them was "J.D."

Today, I see a physical challenge where "I will not watch Fun House" was written several times on a chalkboard.

Friendly rivalry or underlying hatred?

Enjoy lots and lots of backstage TPIR photos and other fun stuff here. And yes, I did park in Syd Vinnedge's parking spot at CBS

On air, gentle jabs. Off air, I'm sure it was a little more cutthroat.

Marc Summers once had the CableACE award won by Double Dare on his podium, and at one point, held it up and said, "Fun House doesn't have one of these, but we do!"

On the one hand, "Fun House" wouldn't be eligible for a CableAce anyway.

On the other hand, I can understand the umbrage that "Double Dare" was taking: "Fun House" was derivative in almost every aspect, as if they were trying to get as close as possible to the original product without getting into legal trouble.

To sum up, while I enjoyed each show when they were geared toward me, neither had a very good game behind it.  But I doubt the producers cared, they just wanted the eyeballs.

I think those three were already brought up here a few times ago (on both this board and at ATGS).

OK...and? There's a lot of topics that get brought up from time to time. Like Pat O'Br...shut up, Brandon.
"They're both Norman Jewison movies, Troy, but we did think of one Jew more famous than Tevye."

Now celebrating his 22nd season on GSF!

And what's wrong with a discussion on them again?

At least we're not discussing Blake Emmons to death anymore. Good God, that was getting annoying.

It could be worse--we could have been rambling about Blake Pickett!

He was a damn good guy.  He's... well, let's see... tall...  white... got two eyes.  Yeah, that's about it.  A good guy.
